Are you a multi-skilled clinical specialist with the ability to work with staff from clinical, nursing, quality and coding teams?


A high level opportunity exists for a Clinical Documentation Specialist with strengths in developing strong working relationships, knowledge of clinical documentation standards and experience in clinical coding and funding models to work for our professional hospital team.




As a Clinical Documentation Specialist, your responsibilities will include facilitation of the overall quality, completeness, timeliness and accuracy of clinical documentation of medical records to support:

  • The delivery of high quality patient care 
  • The clinical coding process
  • Accreditation and adherence to quality standards
  • Appropriate reimbursement of revenue
  • Conduct extensive audits of active/open medical records to monitor the quality, completeness and accuracy of clinical documentation
  • Provide education to Nursing, Allied Health professionals and Physicians on documentation guidelines to support clinical coding, quality, accreditation, billing and patient care
  • Lead clinical documentation performance improvement initiatives
  • Improve the quality and timeliness of all clinical documentation including discharge summaries

Selection Criteria  
  • Bachelor of Nursing  or Bachelor of Health Information Management or Clinical Documentation Specialist Certification
  • Extensive knowledge in clinical documentation standards 
  • An in-depth knowledge of medical record documents and clinical documentation standards 
  • Strong  broad-based clinical knowledge across multiple specialties 
  • Demonstrated understanding of clinical coding documentation requirements
  • Sound knowledge of Private Health fund models
  • Proven experience in accreditation standards and quality frameworks
  • Competency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel and Word)





 Desirable Criteria

  • Certificate IV Training and Assessment

  • Post graduate management studies

  • Experience with Private Sector Funding & Reporting Models
