Norwest Private Hospital is a 277 bed high acuity facility located in Sydney’s rapidly developing North West and is operated by Healthscope, a leading provider of private healthcare in Australia. Due to an internal promotion within Healthscope this position has become available and provides a great platform to future leadership positions. We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced instrument nurse to join our dynamic orthopaedic/neuro team in this pivotal position.
 
The theatre complex consists of 14 state of the art operating theatres, and a standalone Endoscopy suite. Norwest Private Hospital is also planning the fit out of the remaining 2 warm shell theatres to a total of 16 theatres in 2020, an exciting expansion for the hospital and in particular our peri-operative department.
 
 
 
The Neurosurgical Coordinator will be responsible for:
  • Adhering to ACORN standards and Hospital policy and procedure
  • Providing evidenced based nursing care
  • Providing clinical expertise and depth to the orthopaedic spinal/neurosurgical teams
  • Liaising with the multi-disciplinary team
  • Ensuring patient and staff safety
  • Ensuring e-learning and Mandatory training is completed on a regular basis
 
 
 
 
The Neurosurgical Coordinator will fulfil their role within the department with the support of the Perioperative Services Manager, Deputy Theatre Manager and Clinical Nurse Educator.
 
 
 
 
Essential Criteria:
  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse;
  • A minimum of 5 years’ post graduate experience as neurosurgical instrument nurse
  • Demonstrated ability act as a patient advocate;
  • Demonstrated professional manner when working with complex situations;
  • Advanced communication skills as part of a multi-disciplinary team with a willingness to teach and preceptor staff;
  • Flexibility to work a rotating roster including evenings, on call and ad hoc Saturdays
 
 
 
Desirable Criteria:
  • Post Graduate Qualifications in Perioperative Nursing
