Are you a highly experienced Registered Nurse who puts patients at the centre of everything you do? We are seeking a confident and compassionate clinical leader to step into a pivotal After Hours Hospital Coordinator role, where your leadership will directly influence patient experience, staff support, and safe hospital operations.

In this role, you will bring a strong commitment to patient-centred care, ensuring every decision reflects what is best for patients and their families. You will be a visible and approachable leader, known for your excellent communication skills, your ability to build trust across multidisciplinary teams, and your respectful, inclusive leadership style.

Norwest Private Hospital is seeking a confident, compassionate, and highly capable After Hours Hospital Coordinator to provide senior clinical and operational leadership. Full-time, part-time and casual shifts available across mornings, evenings, nights, and weekends.

🔹 Key Responsibilities

  • Provide visible, respectful, and supportive leadership to all clinical areas after hours
  • Ensure delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centred care aligned with best practice standards
  • Promote an outstanding patient and family experience, addressing concerns promptly and professionally
  • Coordinate patient flow, including admissions and emergency presentations, to optimise access and care delivery
  • Lead, support, and empower multidisciplinary teams, fostering a collaborative and respectful team culture
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with staff, VMOs, patients, and families
  • Allocate staffing resources efficiently to meet clinical demand while maintaining safety and staff wellbeing
  • Respond to clinical escalation, emergency codes, and critical incidents with confidence and professionalism
  • Liaise closely with the Emergency Department, paramedics, VMOs, and Executive on Call
  • Champion a strong safety culture, proactively managing risk and supporting continuous quality improvement

🔹 About You

You are a strong, values-based leader who brings both clinical expertise and emotional intelligence.

You will have:

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in acute care
  • Experience in a leadership role (After Hours Coordinator, NUM, or equivalent)
  • A genuine commitment to patient-centred care and exceptional patient experience
  • Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills
  • A leadership style grounded in respect, integrity, and collaboration
  • Highly developed critical thinking and decision-making capability in complex and high-pressure environments
  • Experience coordinating staffing, patient flow, and competing operational priorities
  • Strong understanding of patient safety, risk management, and quality improvement principles

 

🔹 Desirable

  • Postgraduate qualification in Leadership & Management (or working towards)
  • Critical care experience
  • ALS/PALS certification (current or willingness to complete)
  • Experience with Dimensions and RiskMan systems
