About the Role:
The Melbourne Clinic is seeking a suitably qualified Mental Health Clinician to join the Dual Diagnosis Program (DDP). The DDP is a comprehensive, three-week rolling program that supports individuals to develop practical skills in mood stabilisation, emotion and impulse regulation, psychoeducation and addiction recovery within a supportive environment.
Therapeutic approach: The program draws on a diversified therapeutic lens, incorporating ACT, Interpersonal Group Therapy, DBT, Narrative Therapy and CBT.

The Melbourne Clinic, situated in Richmond, Victoria, is Australia’s largest private mental health service, providing a variety of recovery focussed inpatient and outpatient programs that are tailored to meet the needs of people with a range of mental health conditions. The Melbourne Clinic offers inpatient, outpatient (Day Program) and outreach services. This includes specialist programs in eating disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, trauma processing, emotional management, dual diagnosis, Autism, ADHD, aged psychiatry and addictive behaviours. A wide range of evidence-based treatment therapies are also provided, including CBT, DBT, ACT, Mindfulness and EMDR. Quality improvement projects are also underway in the areas of family violence support and neurodiversity safe care.

Key Responsibilities:
Support the DDP team to provide a coordinated, wraparound approach to participant recovery.
Facilitate and co-facilitate therapeutic groups and individual 1:1 sessions.
Attend multidisciplinary team (MDT) and other relevant team meetings as required.
Work collaboratively with VMOs to support high-quality, patient-centered care.
Contribute to effective discharge planning in collaboration with the MDT.
Develop safety plans with vulnerable patients prior to discharge.
Work closely with nurses and Nurse Unit Managers to support continuity and quality of care.
Provide evidence-based approaches to recovery, with a focus on dual diagnosis and addiction recovery.
Willing to work flexibly as required between hospital programs.
What You Will Bring:
- An appropriate tertiary qualification in Allied Health.
- Current registration with the relevant professional body.
- Experience in, or demonstrated special interest in, dual diagnosis.
- Experience facilitating therapeutic groups.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Knowledge and experience in effective discharge planning.
- Ability to develop and implement relapse prevention plans.
- Excellent organisation, time management and self-management skills.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and education.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
About the Dual Diagnosis Program:
The Dual Diagnosis Program provides a structured and supportive environment for individuals experiencing co-occurring mental health and substance use concerns. The role requires a collaborative, recovery-oriented approach and the ability to work effectively across disciplines to support participants throughout their admission and discharge.
