About Northern Beaches Hospital
Operated by Healthscope, Northern Beaches Hospital (NBH) is located in Frenchs Forest, only 13kms north of Sydney CBD. The hospital is a contemporary 488 bed facility comprising of 60% public and 40% private beds. Providing a wide range of health services to the local community, including Surgery, a 50 bed Emergency Department, Intensive Care, Birthing, Paediatrics, Cardiac, Mental Health, Dialysis, Cancer Centre and Outpatients.
NBH has 13 operating theatres, one hybrid/cardiac catheter theatre, two Catheter Laboratories and four endoscopy procedure rooms, all supported by a critical care unit which includes two intensive care wards.
Northern Beaches Hospital is a dedicated facility for all patients in the local area. It was thoughtfully designed to optimise patient safety and overall experience, and to provide meaningful management and operational efficiencies that benefit everyone.

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Medical Administrator/Receptionist to work in our busy medical practice adjacent to the Northern Beaches Hospital (NBH) Emergency Department on a part time permanent basis. The role is responsible for the provision of high quality reception and billing support services to General Practitioners.  This role will work Monday & Friday 9am – 5pm only, with potential to pick up more shifts.
You will make an impact by: 

  • Undertaking administrative duties including meet and greet patients, take all incoming calls and book patient appointments 
  • Update and maintain confidentiality of patient records
  • Ensure patients are billed in an accurate and timely manner
  • End-of-day reconciliations and banking 
  • Deliver excellent customer service in each and every interaction

The bulk-bill NBH Medical Centre offers both scheduled appointments & walk-in services. The Medical Centre is the staff health practice, including provision of immunisations, management of needle stick injuries etc. The Centre’s clinical staff will include GPs, nurses & allied health. 

Medical Centre Operating hours are:
Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm 
Saturday 9am – 5pm 
Sunday 10am – 4pm 

As a high performing team member you will have:  

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to build rapport with patients
  • Medical reception experience in a busy medical centre
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Understanding of and experience with Australian health insurance schemes and patient billing arrangements
  • Exceptional customer service experience 
  • Competent in  using various software packages (preferably patient record and healthcare related)
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines
  • Ability to prioritise work while maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Attention to detail.
