About the Role

The Mental Health Clinical Liaison Clinical Nurse Consultant (CL CNC) position acts as a central point of mental health expertise for Northern Beaches Hospital. The CL CNC triages and conducts timely mental health assessments, collaborates and coordinates care with multiple parties, provides role modelling, training and ensures operational excellence by assisting the Northern Beaches Hospital in meeting local and state KPI’s.

As CL CNC you will make an impact by providing a service for people experiencing mental health problems who present to the emergency department and inpatient units of the Northern Beaches Hospital, ensuring evidence based, high quality recovery focused care in accordance with relevant legislation, organizational policies and procedures and professional standards of practice.

Treatment and care follows the principles of patient-centred care and implementing a contemporary recovery model of care across the Mental Health Service with active involvement from family and carers, an unrestrictive, safe environment, multidisciplinary approach to interventions, with holistic and self-care where possible and ongoing support through community services.

This position is based in a large, friendly and supportive environment. It is a 24/7 service and so you will need to have the flexibility to work a full rotating roster.

Key responsibilities:

•    Provide a more complex and expansive clinical consultancy service within a mixed clinical environment
•    Provide leadership in state, national and or international Mental Health nursing and or specialist clinical groups.
•    Plan care/service based on assessment findings, with patient input, identify priorities and evaluate against established goals
•    ensure the delivery of excellent patient and family centred care in a team focused     environment
•    Act as a role model and mentor to junior staff
•    Assist in the orientation of new staff if required

Qualifications for success:
•    Current Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
•    Bachelor of Science (Nursing) or equivalent or other relevant qualification
•    Nurse with a minimum of 5 years full time post graduate experience, with at least 3 years full time equivalent experience in mental health nursing. In addition, an approved post graduate qualification relevant to mental health nursing in which the employee is appointed or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the employer.
•    Experience managing all aspects of a Mental Health service.

If you are successful in the role, you will receive a salary based on your years of relevant registered nursing experience against the current Healthscope and NSWNMA/ANMF – NSW Nurses and Midwives’ – Enterprise Agreement 2020 – 2024, a salary ranging from $63.71 - $71.52 per hour.
