About the Role
* 3 x 12 month fixed term positions available - 2 x maternity leave and 1 x long service leave*
The Emergency Department (ED) provides 24/7 care comprising 50 beds & treatment spaces, the large ground floor area is divided into zones: assessment; paediatrics; short stay; adult acute; resuscitation (paediatrics & adult); mental health assessment. ED works closely with the adjoining bulk-bill Medical Centre to offer a choice of treatment locations appropriate to the clinical needs of patients.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Emergency Department team as a Nurse Unit Manager level 1. This role is full-time, rotating roster. We do 12 hours shifts on a 6 week pay averaging roster which allows good work - life balance!
The position is responsible for providing leadership, clinical support and direction to the department to complement the strategic direction, operational processes, budget and business direction of the hospital.
You will provide operational direction for the department to ensure efficient and effective management of the area and coordinate the delivery of nursing care that is evidence based. In addition you will be accountable for the effective management of human, financial and material resources and ensure customer service is maintained at optimal levels.
As the Nurse Unit Manager you will undertake direct patient care as required providing guidance and support to less experienced members of the nursing team.
Selection Criteria:
· Current Registration with AHPRA
· Working with Children check
· Previous experience at NUM 1 level or equivalent
· More than 5 years Emergency Nursing experience
· Post Graduate qualification in Emergency Nursing
· Compliance with ACQSHC National standards
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· A strong commitment to developing in a management role
· A commitment to a high standard of clinical and customer focused care
· High degree of computer literacy
· Ability to work cohesively within a team environment
· Proven time management and prioritisation skills
· Demonstrate a sound knowledge base in labour management
· Demonstrated human resource management experience

If you are successful in the role, you will receive a salary based on your years of relevant registered nursing experience against the current Healthscope and NSWNMA/ANMF – NSW Nurses and Midwives’ – Enterprise Agreement 2020-2024 , salary of $62.46 per hour.
