Norwest Private Hospital is located in the rapidly developing North West corridor of Sydney and is operated by Healthscope, a leading provider of private healthcare in Australia. The hospital has 277 beds and is a high acuity facility with an Emergency Department located in Sydney’s Bella Vista.
The Role
Norwest Private Hospital is seeking a Neurosurgery Registrar (unaccredited) to work alongside several surgeons in our Neurosurgery department. You will gain exposure to various subspecialties and be responsible for managing patients on the ward and assisting at Neurosurgery operations.
Note - This role is a temporary 12-month appointment to start on 3 February 2025.
As the Neurosurgery Registrar your responsibilities will include:
· Provision of surgical assistant skills in the operating theatre to support the Accredited Visiting Medical Officer (VMO)
· Review patients in the Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit as required by and under the supervision of the Accredited VMO during business hours
· Review inpatients pre and post operatively at the request of the Accredited VMO during business hours
· Participate in Neurosurgery Department meetings
· Participate in clinical teaching opportunities
What you'll need to succeed
Essential qualities:
· AHPRA Registered Medical Practitioner with eligibility to work in Australia
· Third year postgraduate (PGY3) or above
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Minimum of 12 months experience in specialty
· Recent experience working in Australia
Desirable qualities:
· Previous neurosurgery JMO experience highly desirable
· Demonstrated commitment to entering the Neurosurgery training program
