The Opportunity

Are you a motivated and passionate nurse inspired by professional development and nurturing of others?

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Registered Nurse to support the existing nursing student facilitation team. The role reports to the Quality, Risk & Education Services Manager and is supported by the Senior Nurse Educator.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 8years of acute clinical experience, and will be known for their exemplary communication skills, demonstrated experience and success in preceptorship and other teaching or student facilitation roles will be highly regarded.

It is essential that the candidate holds a TAE40116 Certificate IV Workplace training and Assessment.  

To be successful the candidate will have flexibility in scheduling across all shift patterns for this role.

 

As the Student Facilitator your responsibilities will include: 

·                  Responsibility and accountability for the facilitation of optimal ongoing learning opportunities and facilitation of clinical knowledge and skill development of undergraduate nursing students undertaking clinical placements

·                  Assessing and assisting undergraduate nursing students in attaining competency in nursing procedures and achieve set clinical learning objectives as outlined in their subject outline

·                  Collaborating and working collegially with all parties involved in the process of clinical placements

·                  Demonstrate clinical expertise and professional role modelling in the clinical placement setting

·                  Support the student in the development of critical thinking skills

·                  Identify ethical and legal aspects of nursing practice in the clinical setting

·                  Facilitate students to meet competency standards for the relevant nursing qualification (AIN/EN/RN)

·                  Assist students to develop skills in reflection and self-evaluation, and evidence based clinical practice

·                  Monitor and evaluate student performance throughout the clinical placement, using Faculty approved clinical performance assessment tools and stated learning objectives

·                  Provide prompt and constructive verbal and written feedback both formative and summative, about student performance to the Registered Training Organisation and the Quality, Risk & Education Services Manager.

·                  Attend team meetings, clinical facilitator workshops and other professional development activities

 

Essential Criteria:

·                  Current AHPRA registration- Registered Nurse

·                  Minimum 8-years current post graduate experience in an acute hospital setting-

·                  Experience teaching and supervising students and novice nurses

·                  Demonstrated preceptorship skills

·                  Computer literacy

·                  Certificate IV Workplace Assessment & Training (TAE)

 

Desirable Criteria

·                  Previous Clinical facilitation experience
