Associate Nurse Unit Manager – permanent full-time - at Pine Rivers Private Hospital, Strathpine.

 

The position is responsible for providing clinical leadership and a high standard of evidence-based nursing care to the inpatient unit.

The A/NUM will plan, assess, implement and evaluate nursing care in collaboration with individuals /patients / their families and the multidisciplinary team so as to achieve identified goals and health outcomes.

The A/NUM will take a leadership role in the coordination of nursing care, providing hands on nursing care, supervision, clinical education, direction and support for Clinical Nurses (CN), Registered Nurses (RN) and Enrolled Nurses (EN).

The A/NUM will support the clinical operational direction for the unit to ensure efficient and effective management of the unit by coordinating the delivery of nursing care that is evidence based, being accountable and responsible for the effective daily management of human resources and material resources, liaise with Visiting Medical Officers and coordinate appropriate patient bed utilization of the unit.

The A/NUM will act as a role model to ensure customer service is maintained at optimal levels.

 

Qualifications:

 

·          Registered with APHRA and holds a current registration certificate

·          Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent

·          Current practicing certificate

·          Post graduate qualification in mental health desirable

 

The successful applicant will:

 

·          Possess advanced clinical nursing competence

·          Practice according to evidence based nursing and latest contemporary practices in nursing

·          Able to supervise, guide Clinical Nurses, Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, Graduates, Nursing Students

·          Able to provide education, support and guidance to peers, patients and their families

·          Aware of available community resources and initiate referrals as identified · Able to establish a professional working relationship with Visiting Medical Officers (VMOs) / General Practitioners (GPs)

·          Maintain a safe work environment

·          Able to communicate clearly, document legibly

·          Seek assistance / guidance when unsure

·          Provide hands on nursing care if required

·          Recognise and respects individuals / patients cultural backgrounds and spiritual needs, religious beliefs and the individualism of individual / patients

·          Possess knowledge of human resource management

·          Possess knowledge of budget management and KPIs

·          Possess knowledge of the private hospital sector

·          Have computer literacy / data analysis skills

·          Possess knowledge of health fund case mix funding model

·          Display excellent communication and leadership skills

·          Have a sound understanding of Workplace Health and Safety, and Accreditation (ACHS, ISO)
