Are you looking for an opportunity to join the Healthscope team? National Capital Private Hospital is looking to employ Casual staff for the Support Services Team. We are looking for bright enthusiastic people for the position of: Catering/ Domestic Cleaning Assistant


Please note the position requires candidates to work in both departments as required.


National Capital Private Hospital is a 148 bed accredited hospital located in central Canberra, and co-located on the Canberra Hospital campus in Garran.


Catering and Domestic Cleaning Assistant will deliver and collect all patient food requirements and meal trays. Assist in daily food preparation and basic meal assembly. Clean and maintain food service areas in accordance with hospital and industry and food safety and hygiene standards.


You will provide cleaning to patients and be supported by the Support Services Manager. Ideally you would have previously worked in a similar environment and be a team player, motivated, and able to communicate to staff and patients and demonstrate a high level of initiative. However experience in this role is not essential as all training will be provided.



As a Catering and Domestic Cleaning Assistant your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide high standard of catering and cleaning services
  • Operate in line with infection control standards and WHS policy & procedures
  • Deliver excellent customer service to staff, clients and patients



Selection Criteria:

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills and willing to go the ‘extra mile’ for patient satisfaction.
  • Experience in food services preferred.
  • Experience in manual handling is preferred.
  • Physically able to lift and push trolleys.
  • Experience in a Hospital/Hotel setting may be an advantage 
  • Demonstrated ability to work without supervision as well as part of a team
  • Excellent time management skills and attention to detail
  • Works well independently and within a team
