Are you a trained and experienced chef ready to take the next step in your culinary career?

We’re looking for a Qualified Chef to lead by example and help drive excellence in patient dining services at Knox Private Hospital, one of Victoria’s most advanced private hospitals. This is a full-time position within our established and reputable Catering Department.

About us:

Knox Private Hospital is one of the largest private hospitals in Victoria, caring for over 1.2 million people across Melbourne’s east and outer east.

We have a 24/7 Emergency Department, covering a full range of medical and surgical specialty areas, including highly complex surgeries. Backed by the latest technology and expertise, we offer 15 theatres, including a hybrid theatre, diagnostic cardiology, two cardiac cath labs and capabilities for cardiothoracic surgery, orthopedics, neurosurgery, urology and more.

All supported by the expanded coronary care unit and intensive care unit. Our expert care team of surgeons, specialist doctors, dedicated nurses and other professionals will ensure that your experience is the best it can be.

This role will be housed within a You’ll be working in a large commercial kitchen filled with the latest kitchen equipment. The team here work very closely together and have proven to be extremely welcoming to new starters.

As a Chef your responsibilities will include:

· Provide exceptional customer/patient service by preparing nutritious food in a timely manner, ensuring the cleanliness of kitchens and food preparation, disposing of unused food appropriately, and ordering food supplies.

· Demonstrate cost effectiveness by using produce effectively and managing waste.

· Act as a valued member of an interdisciplinary team by promoting a positive team culture, supervising and providing guidance to kitchen staff, and by liaising with dieticians and other staff to create an experience that makes a difference.

· Demonstrate professional practice by working according to Healthscope’s policies and processes, code of conduct and by participating in yearly performance appraisals and mandatory education.

· Maintain skills and standards of customer service and ensure patient confidentiality and privacy are maintained at all times.

· Supports Healthscope’s safety and quality improvement and achievement of accreditation by actively participating in team meetings, quality and audit activities, and ensuring compliance with and participation in the National Food Standards and National Safety & Quality Healthcare Standards.

What You Bring:

· Certificate III in Commercial Cooking

· Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a hospital, hotel or aged care kitchen

· Good working knowledge and understanding of HACCP regulations

· Strong communication and team management skills

· A commitment to excellence, hygiene, and patient service

· Safe Food Handling Certificate (desirable)

· Experience in function/event catering desired

Remuneration

$40 per hour

All additional penalties are paid in accordance with the current enterprise agreement.
