An opportunity has become available for an experienced Clinical Coder to join our Health Information Services team - to assist the Healthscope coding team to maintain a high quality and timely coding service across our QLD, NT & WA hospitals. This state wide position can be based in either Brisbane or the Gold Coast and entails travel between our 9 QLD, NT &WA sites.
 
Your excellent time management and organisational skills, along with considerable clinical coding experience will ensure your success in this position.
 
Full Time position (Part Time considered).
 
As the Clinical Coder you will be responsible for:
  • Accurate and timely assignment of ICD-10-AM diagnosis and ACHI procedure codes for a variety of specialties
  • Collection of Clinical Indicator and Cancer Registration data at time of coding and
  • Providing Clinical Coding leave and attrition cover for all QLD, NT & WA facilities as directed by the State Health Information Manager (State HIM)

Essential Criteria:
  • Completion of a recognised Clinical Coding Course, Intermediate level or Bachelor of Health Information Management (or equivalent),
  • Up to date extensive Clinical Coding knowledge and at least 3 years’ experience using ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS across a variety of medical and surgical specialties,
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to adapt to an evolving work environment, working as part of a team or autonomously and
  • Possess own car and valid licence
 
Desirable Criteria:
  • Completion of an Advanced Coding Course,
  • Previous private hospital experience including knowledge of private sector funding models and
  • Previous experience with webPAS Patient Management System and 3M Codefinder
