An exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated Clinical Coder to join our Health Information Service team at The North Eastern Rehabilitation Centre and Dorset Rehabilitation Centre. We are offering a part-time role of 20 hours per week.

Dorset Rehabilitation Centre is a 30-bed facility located in Pascoe Vale and North Eastern Rehabilitation Centre is a 46-bed facility located in Ivanhoe.  They offer an extensive range of inpatient and outpatient services.  Our specialties include multi-trauma, orthopaedics, stroke, cardiac, restorative, respiratory and pain management rehabilitation.  We offer a friendly and supportive staff environment with our established multidisciplinary teams.

In this position you will be responsible for:

  • Abstracting and allocating accurate clinical codes to inpatient episodes of care in an efficient and effective manner using ICD/ACHI/ACS.
  • Liaising with clinical professionals to ensure clear and concise documentation to facilitate the accurate coding of inpatient data.
  • Assisting and supporting the Health Information Manager (HIM) in all aspects of clinical coding, medical record management and related activities.

Essential requirements:

  • Up to date knowledge and experience using ICD-10-AM including thorough knowledge of the Australian coding standards
  • Ability to work autonomously and as a team member in a small team environment
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work within deadlines

Desirable Requirements:

  • Understanding of the private sector and billing requirements
  • Minimum two years coding experience
  • Experience with the WebPAS patient information system
