Clinical Coding Assurance Auditor – Prince of Wales Private Hospital

 

Are you passionate about clinical coder education and committed to leading clinical coding teams to achieve high quality data outcomes?


Prince of Wales Private Hospital have a recently established auditing role to support our clinical coding team within the quality & revenue assurance space.

The position would suit a highly motivated individual with excellent clinical coding skills seeking to expand/consolidate their experience working with a more complex casemix.


Prince of Wales Private Hospital, located in Sydney's eastern suburbs, has 168 overnight beds and specialises in cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery, spinal surgery, endovascular surgery, interventional neuroradiology, general surgery, general medicine, liver surgery, orthopaedics, maternity and paediatrics. The hospital is co-located with Prince of Wales Hospital (public), Royal Hospital for Women and Sydney Children's Hospital.


Working within a supportive team, this is an exciting career opportunity for an experienced clinical coder who is ready for a new challenge.


Day to day tasks include the following:
  • Provide sound advice and guidance to clinical coders with respect to the Australian Clinical Coding Standards and National / State coding advice

  • Review coded episodes prior to invoicing in order to minimize the coding and documentation inaccuracies

  • Resolve ambiguities in the coding and documentation by seeking clarification from relevant coding advisory and clinicians

  • Contribute to the analysis of revenue recovery, including identification and analysis of coding and documentation deficiencies

  • Contribute to internal and external audits as required, including follow up on audit recommendations and reports

  • Perform data and revenue quality functions as required

  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders regarding coding and documentation issues

The successful applicant will have:
  • HIMAA Intermediate/Advanced Clinical Coding Course

  • Up to date extensive knowledge with at least 5 years Clinical Coding knowledge and recent experience using ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS at a medium to large acute hospital

  • Keen interest and understanding of the commercial implications of coded data

  • Competency in the use of MS excel

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

  • Ability to prioritise and time manage

  • Problem solving ability

  • Keen interest and understanding of the commercial implications of coded data

Desirable Criteria:
  • Bachelor of Applied Science in Health Information Management (or equivalent)

  • Clinical Coding Audit qualification

  • Knowledge of webPAS patient administration system

  • Previous private hospital experience
