Cutting edge technology and exceptional birthing suites has led to growth of our maternity services team. Through this growth, we are looking for a Clinical Midwifery Consultant (CMC) to join our Midwifery leadership team.

Reporting to the Women and Children’s Services Manager the CMC is responsible for expert clinical and operational coordination through leadership and consultancy within the area of Maternity Services.

Your Role
  • Provides expert clinical care and advice to patients, staff and other healthcare professionals and carers in relation to best practice

  • Develops, facilitates and evaluates care plans to meet the needs of the patient in consultation with Visiting Medical Officers, Staff Specialists and Junior Medical Officers as well as the nursing / midwifery and allied health teams
  • Leads incident and risk management process program
  • Participates in the strategic development and delivery of education programs
  • Initiate, conduct and disseminate the findings of evidence based research and best practice
  • Participate in research projects and lead quality improvement programs within the unit
  • Support and develop junior staff within the unit.

Your Capabilities

  • Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australian (NMBA) via AHPRA as a Midwife

  • Extensive clinical experience (5 years or greater) and expertise across the scope of midwifery practice

  • Experience in driving clinical quality projects
  • Experience in risk management and case review
  • Ability to coordinate and support the audit process
  • Experience in policy development and review
  • Ability to steer the direction of education programs relevant to latest research and evidence

  • Post Graduate qualification in a relevant clinical field at masters level or above
  • Highly developed interpersonal and leadership experience
  • A strong commitment to high quality care
  • The ability to work as part of a diverse team
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
