Are you a Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) looking for your next step in your career in a new facility?  Our Stroke Service – is looking for a Clinical Nurse Consultant to join our team.


Reporting to the Deputy Director of Nursing, the CNC is responsible for contributing to quality health care by collaborating with multidisciplinary health care providers and consumer groups, developing clinical practice standards and evaluating their outcomes. The Stroke CNC is an expert practitioner who, through leadership, facilitates research based clinical practice, which is creative, visionary and relevant to our in-patient service. More specifically your responsibilities will include:

  • promote neurology and stroke nursing fostering excellence through clinical, educational, research and professional relationships.
  • As an expert in neurology and stroke management contributing to quality healthcare through collaborative neurology and stroke management.

  • collaborate with the Emergency Department to ensure timely access to Stroke management of all stroke presentations.

  • formulate, and implements policy, guides practice development and engages in education and research activities.

  • provides hospital wide consultancy, promotes evidence based care within a collaborative multidisciplinary team

  • work as part of the health care team by undertaking direct patient care, providing guidance and support to all members of the nursing team

  • maintain a professional development portfolio with a commitment to ongoing learning, research and development in their area of specialty.

Your Capabilities 

  • Registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

  • Bachelor of Science (Nursing) or equivalent as applicable & post graduate qualification in neurology/ stroke – graduate certificate or higher in neurology/ stroke.

  • 5 year’s full time post registration experience & at least 3 year’s experience in the neurology and stroke field

  • Research experience

  • Ability to achieve results through consultation, advice and facilitation

  • Ability to develop positive relationships with a diverse range of people both internal and external to the facility

  • Demonstrated ability to work well within a team, and coach and mentor staff
