The Role
Due to an increase in speciality case load this position has become available and provides a great platform to future leadership positions. We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced instrument nurse to join and further build our dynamic vascular team in this pivotal position.
Our Department
Our Operating Theatre complex has 16 theatres, 32 first stage recovery bays as well as an additional 32 second stage chairs.
Our specialties include General (including laparoscopic), Colorectal, Bariatric, Orthopaedic, Cardiothoracic, ENT, Plastics, Paediatric, Oral & Dental, Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Ophthalmic, Robotics, Gastroenterology, Neurosurgery, Urology and Vascular surgery
The Clinical Nurse Specialist will be responsible for:
- Adhering to ACORN standards and Hospital policy and procedure
- Providing evidenced based nursing care
- Providing clinical expertise and depth to the vascular theatre teams
- Liaising with the multi-disciplinary team
- Ensuring patient and staff safety
- Ensuring e-learning and Mandatory training is completed on a regular basis
The Clinical Nurse Specialist will fulfil their role within the department with the support of the Perioperative Services Manager, Scrub/Scout NUM and Nurse Educator.
Essential Criteria:
- Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
- A minimum of four years’ post graduate experience in the above specialty
- Demonstrated ability act as a patient advocate
- Demonstrated professional manner when working with complex situations
- Advanced communication skills as part of a multi-disciplinary team with a willingness to teach and preceptor staff
- Flexibility to work a rotating roster including evenings, on call and ad hoc Saturdays
Desirable Criteria:
- Post Graduate Qualifications in Perioperative Nursing

If you are successful in the role, you will receive a salary based on your years of relevant registered nursing experience against the current Healthscope and NSWNMA/ANMF – NSW Nurses and Midwives’ – Enterprise Agreement 2020 – 2024, a salary ranging from $51.81 - $57.48 per hour.
