SSD Supervisor 

Are you an experienced SSD Technician who wishes to explore your supervisory and leadership skills in the next level? Do you have a passion in education, training and assessment? We want you to join our dynamic SSD Leadership team. 

We are seeking to promote a full time highly energetic and enthusiastic Sterilising Technician who is experienced in supervising and leading all staff in the reprocessing of reusable medical devices in the Sterilising Services Department.

In this role you will be the lead support of the SSD Manager to ensure the SSD Daily Reprocessing Plan is aligned with the Interventional Suite and other clinical areas’ daily surgical requirements. You will perform specialised tasks such as auditing, training/assessment & education and ensure reprocessing compliance requirements of SSD equipment and processes are adhered to at all times.  You will also support and assist in all training and/or assessment requirements of the Sterilising Services Department in coordination with the SSD Manager. 

The successful applicant must possess the qualities of being flexible, methodical, organized, consistent and have a strong focus on planning, coordination and productivity relating to SSD’s operational requirements in compliance with the new AS5369:2023, Infection Control Policy, WH&S Policy and other mandatory requirements.  

The SSD Supervisor will;

  • In partnership with the SSD Manager, Interventional Suite Educators, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Infection Control Coordinator and Work Health & Safety Manager, support the departmental training/assessment and education programs and initiatives including the multi-skilling of all SSD staff.
  • Contribute to the management of a consistent, efficient and effective reprocessing of surgical medical devices
  • Allocate staff in workstations ensuring skill-mix is balanced and fair
  • Participate in working parties or committees (as required)
  • Initiate, participate and undertake quality improvements within SSD and Instrument Tracking System.
  • Participate in all quality activities and processes, as required
  • Super-user for Instrument Tracking System  

The SSD Supervisor will participate and support audits, monitoring and maintaining of the departmental KPI's for;

  • Mandatory and SSD specific training
  • Competency and skills assessments
  • In-service education
  • E-Learning modules
  • SSD documentation 

Shifts

  • Monday – Friday
  • AM 0630 – 1536
  • PM 1330 – 2136 

Selection Criteria:

  • Supervisory/Leadership experience in SSD
  • Certificate III Sterilisation Technology
  • Sound knowledge of AS5369:2023
  • Sound knowledge of the SSD Quality Management System
  • Experience with the Censitrac electronic tracking systems
  • Experience in summary & update of the Daily Reprocessing Plan
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Computer skills, e.g. Word, Excel, etc. 

Desirable:

  • Qualifications in supervision/management, training/assessment is an advantage
  • Experience in workplace training & assessment
  • Experience in auditing
  • Experience in reprocessing flexible endoscopes & ultrasound probes
