The Opportunity

Sunnybank Private Hospital is seeking a part time, experienced Health Information Manager with clinical coding experience for an on-going role. Working within the Health Information Services Department, this role is dedicated to quality clinical coding, working closely with clinicians to clarify documentation and undertaking end of month data extraction for health funds and department of health. The role will be tasked with:

  • Abstracting relevant information from the patient record (paper based)
  • Assign accurate ICD-10-AM and ACHI codes and perform Diagnosis Related Groups (DRG) grouping
  • Undertake mandatory reporting of end of month data to heath funds and Department of Health.
  • Undertake Medicolegal processes including release of patient information in accordance with Healthscope Policy (HIM role only) 


About You

You will be an experienced Health Information Manager who is able to code, on average 5 - 8 episodes per hour.  You will enjoy working in a fast-paced team environment, have excellent attention to detail and good communication skills. You will be experienced in identifying discrepancies between clinical information systems and patient records and feedback through the appropriate channels.

To be successful in your application, you will:

  • Have obtained a Bachelor of Health Information Management or Master of Health Information Management
  • Experience in coding using ICD-10-AM, ACHI & ACS
  • Experience using 3M Codefinder & Turbocoder
  • Strong organisational skills in planning, prioritising and managing workloads
