About the role:

Work with Tasmania’s leading Private Hospital in the heart of Hobart!

We are looking for a Clerical Officer to join our Medical Records team on a permanent full-time basis. The Medical Records Clerk's primary function is to manage and maintain patient medical records, ensuring their accuracy, organization, and accessibility. You will play a vital role in supporting patient care, legal compliance, and administrative efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Entry and Record Management: Accurately recording and updating patient information in electronic or paper-based systems. 
  • Record Organization: Filing, retrieving, and maintaining patient records in a logical and efficient manner. 
  • Communication: Responding to inquiries and requests from patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals. 
  • Compliance: Adhering to privacy regulations and confidentiality policies. 
  • Support for Audits: Assisting with internal and external audits. 
  • Scanning and Provision of Records: Providing access to medical records and documentation required for patient care. 
  • Liaising with Staff: Working with medical staff to address issues related to missing documents or clinical notes. 
  • Database Management: Creating and maintaining a database of patient records. 
  • Security: Ensuring the security of patient files and databases. 

Essential Criteria:

  • Organizational Skills: Keeping records organized and readily accessible. 
  • Communication Skills: Effectively communicating with patients and healthcare staff. 
  • Data Entry and Computer Skills: Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and other software. 
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Addressing issues related to missing documents or data discrepancies. 
  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy is essential in maintaining patient records. In your application, tell me your favourite movie.
  • Confidentiality and Privacy: Understanding and adhering to privacy regulations. 

Desirable Criteria:

  • Knowledge of private sector funding models in Australia
  • Knowledge of WebPAS patient information system
