Clinical Neuropsychologist

The Melbourne Clinic (TMC) is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Grade 2 or 3 Clinical Neuropsychologist to join the Allied Health Team. The role is situated within our Neuropsychology Service and will involve the provision of inpatient neuropsychological assessment and intervention, and individual and group therapy. The service works with clients (17-90+ years) with a wide range of conditions, including neurodevelopmental conditions, acute and chronic mental health conditions, acquired brain injury, substance use, and later life cognitive changes (older adults).

The Melbourne Clinic, situated in Richmond, Victoria, is Australia’s largest private mental health service, providing a variety of recovery focussed inpatient and outpatient programs that are tailored to meet the needs of people with a range of mental health conditions.  The Melbourne Clinic offers inpatient, outpatient (Day Program) and outreach services. This includes specialist programs in eating disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, trauma processing, emotional management, dual diagnosis, Autism, ADHD, aged psychiatry and addictive behaviours. A wide range of evidence-based treatment therapies are also provided, including CBT, DBT, ACT, Mindfulness and EMDR. Quality improvement projects are also underway in the areas of family violence support and neurodiversity safe care.

Position Summary

Suitably qualified Grade 2 or Grade 3 Clinical Neuropsychologists are being sought for a part-time position at The Melbourne Clinic, Richmond, Victoria. The role is well supported by the neuropsychology and broader allied health teams, and provides on-site professional development opportunities, including a monthly Psychology Forum with 20+ clinical psychology and neuropsychology peers, group supervision and weekly Professorial Unit Academic Forum presentations. There is also allocated allowance towards preferred Professional Development. The Neuropsychology Service is involved in a number of quality improvement and clinical research projects, as well as the co-design, facilitation and evaluation of a newly established Autism Program. 

Grade 3 applicants require registration with AHPRA and endorsement in Clinical Neuropsychology, along with approved supervisor status. Experience, and a strong interest in mental health and understanding of psychiatric conditions, is preferred.  New graduates commencing, or about to commence, their registrar program are welcome to apply provided they have full registration with AHPRA. Availability to work Mondays is desirable. 

This is an ongoing permanent part-time role (0.4 to 0.6 EFT).

Essential Criteria:

·                   Full registration with AHPRA

·                   Masters or Doctoral qualification in an APAC recognised Clinical Neuropsychology course, or reciprocal international training recognised by the Psychology Board of Australia 

·                   Endorsement as a clinical neuropsychologist, completing registrar program, or intention to commence registrar program (supervision provided)

·                   Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills

·                   Demonstrated commitment to high quality service provision and to professional development

·                   Well-developed time management and work load organisational skills

·                   A commitment to upholding high standards of ethical practice

·                   Developed neuropsychological assessment, formulation and treatment planning skills, within a mental health setting (desirable)

·                   Experience and competency in the provision of evidence based group therapies (desirable)

·                   Current Working with Children Check

Staff in patient contact roles will be required to provide proof of immunity to specified infectious diseases as a Category A Healthcare worker.

If you are successful, you will receive a salary based on your years of relevant experience factored against the relevant Enterprise Agreement, being the Healthscope – Victoria – Psychologists and Dietitians Agreement 2023-2026 ((Grade 2 salaries range between $49.23 and $56.60 per hour; Grade 3 salaries range between $58.54 and $65.78 per hour), which is exclusive of both a higher qualifications allowance and superannuation.
