We are currently looking for a passionate, dynamic, and engaging Nurse Leader for the role of  Nurse Unit Manager within our APU2 and Older Persons Units.

This is a meaningful leadership opportunity for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. As the Nurse Unit Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the operational direction of the ward, supporting both the Director of Nursing and General Manager as part of the hospital’s broader leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the unit’s operations to ensure efficient and effective management
  • Coordinate evidence-based nursing care
  • Foster a culture of excellence in patient and family-centred care
  • Provide mentorship and support to your team
  • Manage human, financial, and material resources effectively
  • Deliver direct patient care when required
  • Ensure compliance with NSQHS Standards

Desirable Skills & Attributes

  • Current AHPRA registration
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in inpatient mental health settings
  • Familiarity with NSQHS/ACHS Standards and HoNOS
  • Proven leadership in building high-performing teams
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
  • Sound understanding of labour management and private health funding
  • Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal
  • Commitment to clinical excellence and customer-focused care
  • High level of computer literacy (MS Office and relevant databases)
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
