About us:

 Darwin Private Hospital is the only provider of private hospital services in the Northern Territory. As part of the Healthscope Group of Hospitals, it is a licenced 122 bed hospital providing a broad range of multiday and day surgery including, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Plastic and Reconstructive, Urology, Gastroenterology and ENT and Cardiac Catheter Laboratory. In February 2021, a purpose built 18 bed inpatient Mental Health & AoD Unit, The Darwin Clinic, opened a new service for patients in the Northern Territory. It also incorporates a dedicated Day Rehabilitation Program.

Our world-class private hospital attracts patients from across the greater Northern Territory, Western Australia, remote aboriginal communities and even offshore. We are co-located with Royal Darwin Hospital and partner in delivering specialised care to patients from across the top end of Australia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strong leadership and operational direction to the ward/unit in alignment with the hospital’s strategic and business objectives

  • Oversee the day-to-day management of the Day Surgery Unit & Recovery, ensuring efficient, effective and safe operations

  • Coordinate the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to achieve optimal patient outcomes

  • Lead, support and develop the nursing team, providing guidance, mentoring and clinical supervision to less experienced staff

  • Effectively manage human, financial and material resources to ensure efficient service delivery and budget performance

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, quality, safety and clinical excellence

  • Ensure exceptional patient and customer service standards are consistently achieved and maintained

  • Maintain compliance with relevant legislation, accreditation standards, hospital policies, and professional practice requirements

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to promote effective communication and coordinated patient care

  • Undertake direct patient care when required to support the needs of the the Day Surgery Unit & Recovery

Essential Criteria:

  • Current Registration with AHPRA
  • NT Working with Children check 
  • Previous experience at NUM level or equivalent
  • Experience in the Acute setting
  • Degree in relevant specialty area
  • Compliance with ACQSHC National standards
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A strong commitment to developing in a management role
  • A commitment to a high standard of clinical and customer focused care
  • Proven time management and prioritisation skills
  • Demonstrate a sound knowledge base in labour management

  Desirable Criteria:

  • A management degree or working towards

 If you are successful in the role, you will receive a salary based on your years of relevant registered nursing experience against the current Healthscope and NT Nurse and Midwives' -Enterprise Agreement 2022, a salary of $126,997 Per Annum.
