Northpark Private Hospital, Bundoora is seeking a compassionate and experienced Nurse Unit Manager to lead our 26-bed adult Mental Health Unit.

In this key leadership role, you will champion the delivery of recovery-oriented, trauma-informed and person-centred care, ensuring consumers are supported in a safe, respectful and empowering environment. You will lead a dedicated multidisciplinary team to promote hope, autonomy, dignity, and collaborative care, while maintaining excellence in clinical outcomes and operational performance.

Our Mental Health Unit provides specialised inpatient services within a recovery-focused framework, supporting individuals to build resilience, strengthen independence, and achieve meaningful outcomes. Key responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Mental Health Unit, embedding recovery-oriented and trauma-informed practices
- Ensure delivery of safe, compassionate, and person-centred care that promotes consumer choice and participation
- Foster a culture of psychological safety, respect, and cultural sensitivity for consumers, families, and staff
- Lead, support and develop a skilled workforce committed to strengths-based and collaborative care
- Promote consumer and carer engagement in care planning and service improvement
- Drive quality improvement, clinical governance, and risk management activities
- Manage workforce planning, rostering, and resource allocation
- Oversee financial and operational performance to ensure sustainable service delivery
- Build strong partnerships with VMOs and multidisciplinary teams to enhance care continuity
Essential criteria:
- Current Registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
- Postgraduate qualification in Mental Health Nursing
- Demonstrated leadership experience within a mental health setting
- Strong understanding of recovery principles, trauma-informed care, and consumer-centred practice
- Knowledge of clinical governance, safety, and quality standards
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and support teams to deliver compassionate care
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
Desirable:
- Experience in the private healthcare sector
- Formal leadership or management qualifications
