As a Casual Occupational Therapist your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing occupational therapy services to patients across rehabilitation, acute medical and surgical wards and the intestive care unit.
  • Providing relief cover when staff are away on planned and unplanned leave
  • Working closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide thorough assessment, treatment planning and clinical care to patients and their families.
  • Efficient goal setting and discharge planning.
  • Providing a flexible therapy service to meet the needs of the hospital and the occupational therapy team.
  • Working autonomously to advocate for patients and their needs.


The National Capital Private Hospital is a modern, progressive acute medical, surgical and rehabilitation hospital of 135 beds located in the southern suburbs of Canberra. The hospital has 8 operating theatres, an intensive care unit, coronary care unit, day surgery unit, medical/rehabilitation and surgical wards.



Essential Criteria:

  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
  • Tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy
  • Highly developed skills, knowledge and clinical reasoning in occupational therapy with experience and demonstrated competency in geriatrics, general medical, surgical caseloads
  • Excellent skills in time management and caseload prioritisation
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Highly developed communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Motivation for ongoing personal and professional development
