Newcastle Private Hospital is seeking Registered Midwives to join our growing team – working across the Antenatal and Postnatal wards, in our Maternity Assessment Unit, Caesarean lists, Birthing Suites or with our adorable little babies in our Special Care Nursery. Come and join our expert team of surgeons, specialist doctors, dedicated nurses and allied health professionals at Newcastle Private Hospital. We are a 189 bed, acute, private hospital facility co-located on the John Hunter Campus at Rankin Park. The hospital has 11 theatres including a hybrid theatre and a 15 bed Intensive Care Unit.
We also have a cardiac suite including a cardiac catheter laboratory and a 16 bed Coronary Care Unit. A private maternity suite including 6 birthing suites and a special care baby nursery is available for families in the Newcastle region. Newcastle Private Oncology Centre provides specialty care for individuals and their families/carers undergoing all aspects of cancer treatment and care with both an inpatient unit and day infusion lounge.
The Role
An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Registered Midwife to join our team. We are looking for an experienced midwife, who is committed to the delivery of woman centered care in the antenatal, intrapartum and post-natal periods. We have a number of specialty areas within our service providing a dynamic and engaging experience to the right applicant. You will have the opportunity to work on our antenatal ward, in our Maternity Assessment unit, our Birthing Suites, Postnatal ward, Cesarean lists and/or in our beautifully renovated Special Care Nursery.
To succeed in the role as a Registered Midwife, you will need to bring a genuine interest in caring for women and their family through the various stages of pregnancy, childbirth and postnatal care. You will be an experienced midwife with excellent communication skills and enjoy working in an inclusive and vibrant environment that values and supports our diverse families.
Essential Criteria:
- Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Midwife
- Current NSW Working with Children Check
- Minimum of 2 years’ recent experience working as a Registered Midwife in similar roles
- Demonstrated ability to advocate for and implement individualised woman-centred care;
- Sound clinical decision making and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated professional manner when working with complex situations
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Flexibility to work a seven-day roster including night duty
- Basic computer skills

If you are successful in the role, you will receive a salary based on your years of relevant registered nursing experience against the current Healthscope and NSWNMA/ANMF - NSW Nurses and Midwives' - Enterprise Agreement 2020- 2024, a salary ranging from $35.46 - $49.79 per hour.
