Norwest Private Hospital is a 277 bed high acuity facility located in Sydney’s rapidly developing North West and is operated by Healthscope, a leading provider of private healthcare in Australia. Women’s Health Unit is a 43 bed post/antenatal/gynaecology ward with 7 birthing suite rooms.  Supporting this service is a 7 bed level 2 Special Care Nursery. An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Registered Midwife to join our team on a full-time/part time basis.  We are looking for an expert midwife, who is committed to excellence, has extensive skills in the birth unit as well as a passion for delivery of woman centred care.

The Registered Midwife will be responsible for:

  • Providing exceptional individualised midwifery care
  • Exceptional skills including CTG interpretation, neonatal resuscitation, management of obstetric emergencies
  • Demonstrated proactive approach to problem solving
  • Liaising with the multi-disciplinary team
  • Ensuring patient and staff safety
  • Ensuring e-learning and Mandatory training is completed on a regular basis

The Registered Midwife will fulfil their role within the Unit with the support of the Nurse Unit Manager and Clinical Nurse Educator.

Essential Criteria:

  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Midwife with one year of experience (to have completed a new graduate midwifery program essential);
  • Demonstrated ability to advocate for and implement individualised patient centred care;
  • Demonstrated professional manner when working with complex situations;
  • Advanced communication skills as part of a multi-disciplinary team with a willingness to learn new skills;
  • Flexibility to work night duty
  • Current midwifery practice in a delivery suite

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience in Private Health Care

All candidate must address the above criteria within their application.

If you are successful in the role, you will receive a salary based on your years of relevant registered nursing experience against the current Healthscope and NSWNMA/ANMF – NSW Nurses and Midwives’ – Enterprise Agreement 2015 – 2019, a salary ranging from $33.0831- $46.4588 per hour.
