Position Purpose

The Senior Network Engineer supports the Healthscope organisation in delivering a highly available national enterprise network, which hospitals and remote staff depend on to provide specialised, quality services to patients and the community.
The Cloud and Platform Networks team manage the product and technology capabilities that enable our hospitals to provide innovative, superior patient care. They are accountable for solution design, engineering and operations for all networks, including Data Centre/Cloud, WAN, LAN, Wi-Fi and secure remote access.
Operational excellence is core to our culture, managing incidents, service requests and driving continuous improvement through structured problem management and maintaining currency with regular software/hardware lifecycle upgrades.
The role reports to the Network Manager and the team sits within the Technology Services function of IT.
Location – Melbourne, St Kilda HO.
Salary – $150K - $170K (Base and Super)
Key Accountabilities:
Network Planning and Design
· Collaborate with Business stakeholders to gather network solution requirements ensuring products and designs are focused on simplicity, operational support and end user experience.
· Generate or adopt design patterns for operational simplicity and consistency
· Adopt best practice security guidelines to ensure risks are understood and mitigated or accepted.
· Install, configure and operationally accept network equipment to support Healthscope’s LAN and WAN environment.
· Develop and document network high level / low level designs and network implementation plans.
· Seek change approval via the Change Advisory Board (CAB) process for any network change.
Network Incident / Infrastructure Management:
· Respond to Network Incidents in a timely manner, adhering to customer/organisational SLAs.
· Troubleshoot network incidents, identifying root cause and deploying either an immediate tactical fix to restore service and/or a strategic solution to eradicate the issue and avoid re occurrence.
· Monitor Network performance and implement optimisation measures to ensure efficient and reliable network operations
· Share network knowledge to uplift overall team skill and capability.
· Participate in a 24x7 on-call roster, supporting after hour P1/P2 incidents
· Support hardware replacement by coordination with the Hospital, vendor and the Healthscope business to obtain alignment / approval.
· Ensure network configuration involving Firewall change is peer reviewed by the Security team and conforms with network security practices.

Qualifications, Experience, Skills for Success
Mandatory:
· Tertiary qualification in associated field (e.g. Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Digital / Network Technology)
· 5+ years’ experience supporting enterprise networks (LANs/WANs), L2 switching, load balancers, firewalls, wireless networks (NAC, NMS, WLC, WAP), infrastructure implementation, in either a network operations or network engineering environment.
· Demonstrated knowledge and experience supporting Cisco, Palo Alto, Juniper, Extreme Networks, and Fortinet networking equipment, along with cloud networking services from Azure and/or AWS.
· Knowledge of the ITIL Framework and experience implementing ITIL-based Service Management processes.
· Demonstrated knowledge of the Microsoft Active Directory Domain Servies, Domain Controllers, AD Certificate services, AD Federation services, centralised administration and how they integrate with networking solutions.
· Demonstrated knowledge of networking protocols, such as DNS, DHCP, NTP, ARP, IP ARP, TCP/IP, LACP, Port-Channel, Spanning Tree Protocol, BPDU, BFD, SPBM, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, SD-WAN.
· Experience with installation and administration of distributed and virtual computing platforms.
· Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills; writing of technical documents.
Desirable:
Industry certification (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP, AWS Certified, Network+, etc).
