Are you an enthusiastic, experienced Speech Pathologist looking to join a dynamic Allied Health team? 

Do you have a drive for service development and strong initiative?

The hours offered are flexible which may suit someone returning to work or with family commitments.

 

As a Speech Pathologist your responsibilities will include:

  • Working independently to provide high quality speech pathology services to adults in the ICU and on the surgical and medical wards
  • Assessment and management of adult patients with acquired swallowing disorders (including following head & neck surgery and acute stroke)
  • Assessment and management of tracheostomies
  • Excellent communication with surgeons and ward multidisciplinary teams
  • Discharge planning and referral to appropriate follow-up services
  • Implementation of video fluoroscopy services or referral to same

 

National Capital Private Hospital is a modern, progressive, acute surgical, medical and rehabilitation hospital of 152 beds located in the southern suburbs of Canberra. The hospital has 8 operating theatres, an intensive care unit, coronary care unit, day surgery unit, medical/rehabilitation and surgical wards.  

 

Selection Criteria:

  • A degree in Speech Pathology
  • Previous acute hospital experience
  • Speech Pathology Australia Membership
  • Video fluoroscopy and tracheostomy experience beneficial
  • Exceptional time management and communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as within a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong commitment to professional development
  • A current police check and evidence of relevant serology are required for this position
