Casual Role Switchboard
Monday - Sunday - 24 hour rotating roster availability required

About the Role
As a hospital switchboard operator you are required to have excellent customer service skills and will be responsible for accurate and efficient response to all calls made to and from the NBH switchboard and emergency calls. 
The switchboard at Northern Beaches Hospital operates 24 hours a day requiring candidates to work a 24hr rotating roster.
We are seeking proactive individuals to join our extraordinary team on a part time basis to:

  • Operating hospital switchboard; and DECT and/or smart phone systems
  • Answering incoming and outgoing calls
  • Delivering assistance in a polite, clear, well-spoken and calm manner in all circumstances
  • Contacting staff and emergency groups for code calls e.g. cardiac arrest and trauma groups 
  • Performing routine clerical duties as required by the Manager 
  • Providing an effective, efficient, timely and courteous service to patients, visitors, the public and staff who interact with the switchboard.

To be successful:

  • Previous experience in the operation of contemporary switchboards and high-volume call environment
  • Demonstrated experience in responding to a range of customer enquiries and determining the appropriate response in a complex work environment
  • Exceptional communication and customer service skills
  • Experience in managing DECT and Smart Phone systems will be well regarded
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and within a team  
  • Ability to stay calm in high volume environment
  • Flexible to work rotating shifts – early/late shifts & weekend work.

About Northern Beaches Hospital
Operated by Healthscope, Northern Beaches Hospital (NBH) is located in Frenchs Forest, only 13kms north of Sydney CBD. The hospital is a contemporary 488 bed facility comprising of 60% public and 40% private beds. Providing a wide range of health services to the local community, including Surgery, a 50 bed Emergency Department, Intensive Care, Birthing, Pediatrics, Cardiac, Mental Health, Dialysis, Cancer Centre and Outpatients.
NBH has 13 operating theatres, one hybrid/cardiac catheter theatre, two Catheter Laboratories and four endoscopy procedure rooms, all supported by a critical care unit which includes two intensive care wards.
