The Role
An exciting opportunity now exists for a highly motivated and experienced Nurse Educator at Newcastle Private Hospital in a fixed-term temporary full time capacity covering a 12-month period.
The position requires both leadership and management skills. To be successful in this role you will have a minimum of 6 years clinical nursing experience as well as current or relevant experience in a hospital wide Nurse Educator role.
A degree of experience within an in-charge, supervisory or management capacity will also be beneficial as you will work closely members of the management team, participating in various committees and working parties and actively contribute to the Healthscope wide education cluster.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for patient safety and risk management in promoting bedside clinical teaching, whilst supporting the Quality and Education teams in achieving the highest standards of clinical care.
Directly reporting to and working closely with the Quality, Clinical Risk and Education Manager, your responsibilities will include; the planning and implementing of hospital wide education programs and support for clinical and support services education, undergraduate program coordination, new graduate program coordination, hospital wide orientation and mandatory training programs. You will be the learning management system site administrator and report area specific and hospital wide compliance on a regular basis.
Essential Criteria:
· Current registration with AHPRA
· Minimum 6 years post graduate, at least 3 years in an education role or similar
· Recent relevant and extensive experience in Acute Care setting
· Recent education experience in an adult learning environment
· Certificate IV- Workplace Training and Assessment
· Post registration clinical and education qualification in a specialty area / education / management
· Demonstrated effective leadership skills including highly developed communication (written and verbal), problem solving, managing people, coaching, negotiation and influencing skills
· Demonstrate ability to coordinate, develop, deliver and evaluate education and training programs using multimodalities
· Advanced computer skills
· Understand the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards and the Education evidence/requirements for Short Notice Assessments
Desirable Criteria:
· Advanced life Support train the trainer
· Paediatric life Support train the trainer
· Resus for Kids train the trainer
