About Our Coronary Care Unit
Our 41 bed Coronary Care Unit is a busy unit with many high-end interventional cardiac procedures being performed on a regular basis. We routinely see procedures such as PCI, cardiac device insertion, LAAO, ablation, pre-op CABG, cardioversion, TOE and TAVI. CCU provides the MET service for the hospital and adjoining medical suites, as well as a Priority Admission Service for chest pain and related respiratory conditions.
At Mount we can offer you experience in a high acuity unit that services three Cath Labs as well as a Hybrid theatre. In this role, you will be supported by the Nurse Unit Manager, dedicated Staff Development Nurse, Clinical Nurse Specialist, as well as a highly experienced team of Clinical and Registered nurses, offering many years of experience in the specialty.
CCU is well supported by a 14 bed Level 3 Intensive Care Unit completing in excess of 700 open heart procedures per year. If cardiac nursing is your passion, then the Mount is the place to be.
Key responsibilities
As a Coronary Care Registered Nurse you will:
- Deliver evidence based nursing care
- Liaise with the multi-disciplinary team
- Ensure patient and staff safety
- Supervise, direct and guide nursing team members; Enrolled Nurses (ENs) and Assistants in Nursing (AINs) to deliver patient care
- Deliver education and support to individuals/patients for the management of their health recovery, rehabilitation or end of life needs
Essential Criteria:
- Current Registration with AHPRA
- Post Graduate Certificate in Coronary Care or ICU (or working towards) highly desirable
- Commitment to Quality Patient Care
- Compliance with ACQSHC National standards
- Sound clinical decision making and problem solving skills
- Works well independently and within a team
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Basic computer skills
