Northern Beaches Hospital is looking for an experienced Occupational Therapy Department Manager to join our fantastic team, to provide quality health care services to the Northern Beaches community. As the Occupational Therapy Manager your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Leading and management of the OT service to ensure efficient and effective service delivery that is evidence based and patient centered. 
  • Be accountable and responsible for the effective management of human, financial and material resources and ensure customer service is maintained at optimal levels
  • Undertake direct patient care providing high quality and culturally appropriate occupational therapy assessment and treatments. 
  • Provide guidance and support to less experienced members of the team. 
  • Work closely with the Director of Allied Health and referrers to be actively involved in a customer focused quality service in accordance with the NBH core values and the relevant Code of Ethical Practice. 
  • Establish a framework for; and provide professional supervision to staff within the team. 
  • Work as part of the health care team, adhere to Healthscope and NBH policies and procedures and key performance indicators, participate in working parties or committees (as required) demonstrate a commitment to quality improvement through National Safety & Quality Healthcare Standards (NSQHS), Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) and achievement of NBH accreditation. 
  • Be aware of advances in care and products/ equipment as relevant to the role and service. 
  • Maintain a personal and professional development portfolio with a commitment to ongoing learning and development.

    Personal attributes:
  • Masters/Bachelor Degree in Applied Science Occupational Therapy and eligibility for practicing membership to Occupational Therapy Australia 
  • Current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) 
  • Minimum of 7 years’ clinical Occupational Therapy experience in an acute environment 
  • Previous leadership and staff supervision experience

Desirable: 

  • Experience in leading quality improvement activities 
  • Post graduate qualification in management/leadership or working towards
  • Experience in Private Hospital sector

• Ability to develop positive relationships with a diverse range of people both internal and external to the facility
• Demonstrated change management skills and an ability to work with ambiguity

The successful applicant will need to meet the personal attributes listed above and the following selection criteria:

• Advanced skill and competence in one or more key areas of clinical occupational therapy and a sound foundation of knowledge in all clinical specialties offered at Northern Beaches Hospital
Demonstrated skills and experience leading and managing an Occupational Therapy team across a broad range of duties and responsibilities.
• Establish and maintain partnerships within the multidisciplinary team using high level interpersonal skills to make shared decisions that meet the needs of the consumers, carers and families
• Experience in development and/or implementation of new systems/practices according to the needs of the service and its patients, according to evidence based best practice guidelines
• Experience and knowledge of human resource management, budget and KPIs and health fund and casemix funding models
• Knowledge of the private hospital sector
• Practical use of IT systems, and data analysis skills
• Demonstrated clinical experience supervising staff, students and team performance
