Speech Pathologist
Temporary Part Time (Level 1/2); 16 hours per week

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Speech Pathologist to join the Speech Pathology Department at the Northern Beaches Hospital. This hospital provides care to public and private patients from an outstanding facility with a large range of quality services provided by exceptional allied health teams, midwives, nurses, doctors and staff. 

As a Speech Pathologist, you will make a positive impact and enable patients to achieve their swallowing and communication goals in an acute environment by:

• Providing professional, evidence based, high quality speech pathology assessment and intervention.
• Developing positive working relationships with Medical Officers, Nursing staff, Allied Health Professionals and other staff members.
• Participating in and providing educational support to patients and their significant others, supervision, quality improvement and professional development

This position is:

• temporary part time for approximately 12 months (maternity locum). 
• 16 hours per week with potential for additional shifts across periods of leave cover or where there is clinical need.

Selection Criteria:

1. Bachelors/Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology and eligibility for practicing membership of Speech Pathology Australia
2. Highly developed skills in assessment and treatment of adults with swallowing and communication disorders in the acute setting.
3. Desirable: Working towards or competent in VFSS and/or FEES
4. Desirable: Interest / skills in paediatric feeding
5. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
6. Demonstrated effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
7. Demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage workload demands, meet deadlines and complete activities within scope of practice
8. Commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence based practice.
